Campaigns and Programs
Have you or someone you know been affected by a wound or wound complication? If you have, you understand the need for wound awareness and prevention.
When you make a donation to Wounds Canada Foundation, you’re funding essential campaigns and programs that increase public awareness about the issue, patient advocacy, information and education, scholarships and research. These programs can change the outcome for many patients struggling with the effects of serious or slow-healing wounds. Significant change in wound prevention and management is an enormous undertaking and will take time, resources and money.
Educational and Scholarship Programs
Knowledge is power. Our educational programs at our Wounds Canada Institute are designed to support health-care providers at all levels and in all disciplines in accessing flexible, interprofessional education that supports their learning needs and professional career growth. At Wounds Canada, we believe supporting and empowering patients and caregivers is essential, so we also offer educational opportunities for patients, family members and caregivers via our Programs for Unregulated and Lay Care Providers.
Our scholarship program funds essential education for health-care providers, patients and caregivers. We believe targeting the gap in knowledge many HCPs have about wound prevention and management is crucial to bringing about positive change in our health-care systems.
Research Programs
Why is it important to have current relevant Canadian data? In order to allocate health-care dollars wisely, decision makers need to understand the problem. We know wounds are a significant health issue in Canada, but there is currently not enough published Canadian information that accurately provides the type and depth of information necessary for making sound, patient-focused decisions. To help fill this gap, the Wounds Canada Foundation offers research grants.
Awareness Campaigns
Our awareness campaigns show the country that wounds and skin health are issues that affect us all. We build community through interactive social media campaigns, provide value information to the public and policy makers, and advocate to governments across Canada to make wounds a priority. Resource Programs
Our free, downloadable patients and health-care provider resources are an absolute necessity when there is a lack of support for patients who are at risk for wounds and a frequent knowledge gap relating to wound care for health-care professionals. Find out more about:
#PatientStories Are Essential Campaign
Supporting patient autonomy and voice is a crucial pathway for enacting positive change in wound care delivery and the greater health-care system. We ensure the voices of patients are heard through our multi-pronged Patient Journey Program, which included the 2022 Patient Journey Conference and our ongoing “Our Voices, Our Stories” video project in collaboration with Lakehead University.
We can’t do this alone; your support can make a difference in wound care in Canada. Please donate today to support our journey toward a common goal: patients, families and health-care teams working hand in hand to better prevent and care for wounds.

Past Campaigns
Mr. Bob Wilson
Through your generous donation, the Wounds Canada Foundation will help bring prevention and awareness of wounds to the forefront of care. As a result of the tragic passing of Mr. Bob Wilson due to an infected pressure ulcer, we dedicated this campaign in his memory. All donations collected will be attributed to wound care public awareness and health education with the goal to prevent and treat such wounds proactively and effectively.
